Terms of Service

1. Acceptance
By creating a HoodPadi account or using the Service in any way, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the Service. These Terms form a binding legal agreement between you and HoodPadi. "Service" refers to the HoodPadi website, API, and any associated applications.
2. Eligibility
- You must be at least 18 years of age to create an account.
- You must be a current resident of a Lagos neighbourhood covered by HoodPadi.
- You must provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration.
- You may not create more than one account per person.
- Accounts are personal and non-transferable.
3. Account & Verification
HoodPadi is a verified community. By registering you agree to:
- Provide your real name and residential address for verification purposes.
- Complete the neighbourhood verification process when requested by an admin.
- Not impersonate another person or misrepresent your residential address.
- Keep your login credentials secure. You are responsible for all activity under your account.
- Notify us immediately of any unauthorised access at support@hoodpadi.com.
HoodPadi reserves the right to revoke verification status and restrict access if residency cannot be confirmed or is no longer valid.
4. Acceptable Use
You agree to use HoodPadi only for lawful purposes and in ways that do not infringe on the rights of others. The following are strictly prohibited:
Harmful Content
Posting content that is defamatory, harassing, threatening, abusive, obscene, or that incites violence or discrimination based on ethnicity, religion, gender, or any other characteristic.
False Information
Posting false safety alerts, spreading misinformation about community incidents, or deliberately misleading neighbours about any matter.
Spam & Commercial Abuse
Sending unsolicited bulk messages, posting repetitive commercial content outside the Marketplace section, or using the Service to promote pyramid schemes or fraudulent offers.
Privacy Violations
Sharing personal information about other residents without their consent, including home addresses, phone numbers, or private correspondence.
Technical Abuse
Attempting to reverse-engineer, scrape, or disrupt the Service; creating automated accounts; or attempting to circumvent any security or verification measures.
5. Marketplace
The HoodPadi Marketplace allows verified residents to buy and sell goods within their neighbourhood. You agree that:
- Listings must be for physical goods that you personally own and have the right to sell.
- All listings must be accurate — misrepresenting condition, price, or item is a violation.
- Prohibited items include but are not limited to: weapons, controlled substances, stolen goods, counterfeit products, and live animals.
- HoodPadi is a platform only — we are not a party to any transaction between buyers and sellers. All sales are at your own risk.
- HoodPadi does not handle payments, escrow, or dispute resolution for transactions.
6. Content Ownership & Licence
You retain ownership of all content you post. By posting content on HoodPadi, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store, display, and distribute that content solely within the Service for the purpose of operating the platform.
You are responsible for ensuring you have the right to post any content, including images, that you upload. We reserve the right to remove any content that violates these Terms.
7. Moderation & Enforcement
HoodPadi employs community moderators (trusted residents with elevated trust levels) and admin staff to enforce these Terms. We may, at our discretion:
- Remove any content that violates these Terms without prior notice.
- Issue warnings, temporarily restrict, or permanently ban accounts.
- Report illegal activity to the relevant Nigerian law enforcement authorities.
You may report a post or user using the in-app report function. We will review all reports in good faith.
8. Disclaimer of Warranties
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. HoodPadi does not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of viruses. Safety alerts and community posts reflect the views of individual residents — HoodPadi does not verify the accuracy of user-generated content and accepts no liability for actions taken in reliance on it.
9. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by Nigerian law, HoodPadi and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of or inability to use the Service, including any loss arising from marketplace transactions between users, reliance on safety alerts, or content posted by other members.
10. Termination
You may delete your account at any time via your Profile settings. On deletion, all your personal data will be permanently removed within 30 days in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
We may terminate or suspend your account at any time for violations of these Terms, with or without notice. Upon termination, your right to use the Service ceases immediately.
11. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be notified via in-app notification and/or email at least 14 days before they take effect. Your continued use of the Service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
12. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Any disputes arising from or relating to these Terms or the Service shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Lagos State, Nigeria.
